De-clutter Twice YearJust before birthdays and the holidays is a good time to take stock of your preschooler’s toys, and get rid of anything that is broken or missing parts. If your preschooler has outgrown some toys, give them to friends with younger children or donate them to charity. A good rule of thumb for preschooler’s toys is that for every new toy they receive, one old toy should be tossed or donated.
Rotate Your Preschooler’s Toys
If you have enough storage space, such as a dry basement or attic, box up several of your preschooler’s toys and put them away for a season. When you pull the toys out storage, your preschooler will marvel over their “new” toys. Do this every season, and you help keep clutter under control and prevent your preschooler for becoming bored with his toys.

Do a Daily Pick Up
Keep a small laundry basket handy to pick up toys that are scattered around the house. I usually do a pick up each evening, before bed. Once the basket is full, empty it and put all the toys away in their proper place.
Make Organized Storage
Keep small pieces, such as Lincoln logs, matchbox cars and Legos in individual plastic bins, rather than throwing them into one big container. This will make it a lot easier for your preschooler to find the toys she wants to play with. Selecting plastic bins of the same size will make it easy to stack them in closets or on shelves.
Look Under the Bed
Use larger, shallow plastic bins for storage of toys or clothing, and keep them under your preschooler’s bed. This is a good use of space and it will help prevent preschooler’s toys from accumulating under there.
