Step One: Paint the Ceiling
Paint the ceiling with two coats of sky blue paint. Mix white paint, with the paint glaze (be sure to follow the manufacturers directions). Using a damp sea sponge, add clouds. Let dry completely and then using a star stamp and glow in the dark paint, add stars.
Step Two: Paint the Walls
Select a shade of cool, pastel green as a base color for this bedroom theme. Using assorted acrylic paints and floral stamps, add flowers, toadstools, and ferns. Add some “morning dew” to the flowers and ferns, by outlining the petals and leaves with a silver glitter pen. This will add an unexpected sparkle to the walls.
Step Four: Select the Bedding
Fairy-themed bedding available, but a solid colored comforter and bedskirt can work just as well. Select a comforter in a cool pastel shade that matches you accent colors. A petal pink color would contrast beautifully against the cool green walls.
Step Five: Select the Window Treatments
You can select window treatments that match your preschooler’s bedding, or you can create a unique treatment that will reflect the fairy theme. Try hanging sheer white panels, on a piece of tree branch, cut to fit the width of the window. You can embellish the panels with ferns and flowers, using your stamps and a fabric paint.
Step Six: Add the Details
The possibilities are endless for this bedroom theme! Try hanging a canopy over your preschooler’s bed, to create her own private fairy house. Fairy dolls are very popular, and not only would they make great accessories when placed about the room, your preschooler will love playing with them! Swap out existing dresser knobs for ones with a flower theme. You can also add rugs, lamps, and picture frames all with a fairy theme.
