Solar System Model

Step One: Select the Bedding

Outer space themed bedding comes in a variety of colors and shades, so it best to select the design you want, before selecting paint and accessories. Many bedding sets have primary blue and navy blue backgrounds, though you can find some with white or red for a new twist. 

 

Select a medium to dark blue color, to coordinate with your bedding. Paint the walls and, if possible, the ceiling. Using glow-in-the-dark paint and an assortment of stamps, add stars, comets, and moons.

 

Add solar system themed Wallies© or a mural to add even more detail to your preschoolers walls and ceilings. 

 

Often times you can purchase window treatments that match your Outer Space bedding. If your preschooler’s bedroom is small, having the same print pattern on the bedding and the drapes can be overwhelming. For smaller bedrooms, select a solid window treatment in a color that coordinates with the bedding and walls. Orange is a complementary color to dark blue. Using it on the window treatments would add an unexpected splash of color in an otherwise dark room. 

 

The possibilities are endless for this bedroom theme! Try hanging a model of the solar system from the ceiling, or adding a map of the solar system to the walls. Swap out existing dresser knobs for ones with a planet or star theme. You can also add rugs, lamps, and picture frames all with an Outer Space theme. 

 

Glow-In-The-Dark Paint
